    Eddie Vedder is an American musician, vocalist, and guitarist of the band Pearl Jam. He is considered an icon of alternative rock and is ranked 7th in Rolling Stone's 'Best Lead Singers of All Time' list. Vedder was born as Edward Louis Severson III in 1964 in Evanston, Illinois, a Chicago suburb. His parents, Karen Lee Vedder and Edward Louis Severson Jr., divorced when he was only one year old. His mother later remarried to lawyer Peter Mueller, and Vedder grew up believing he was his biological father. He even changed his name to Eddie Mueller after being adopted. In the mid-1970s, Vedder and his three younger stepbrothers moved to San Diego, California with their family.
