Shuzo Ikeda (1922–2004) was born in Akita Prefecture. He graduated from Tokyo Higher Normal School in 1945 and subsequently pursued a career in art education. Later, Ikeda became a member of the artist association Nihon Hanga Kyokai, focusing on woodblock printmaking ('moku hanga') as his primary artistic pursuit.
Ikeda's mastery lies in his ability to incorporate the texture of woodblock grain seamlessly into his print designs.
